Την Τρίτη, 9 Απριλίου,  εκλεκτή καλεσμένη στην εκπομπή  του Νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai με την
 Φαίη Κοζά ήταν η παγκοσμίως  διακεκριμένη οφθαλμομέτρης Dr.  Elena Schmidt.    
 Η γιατρός αναφέρθηκε  σε οφθαλμικές παθήσεις,  συγκεκριμένα αρχικά στην  διαβητική
 αμφιβληστροειδοπάθεια, για την  οποία κύριος παράγοντας, που  ελέγχεται, είναι ο διαβήτης.    Στην συνέχεια
 αναφέρθηκε στην ηλικιακή  εκφύλιση ωχράς κηλίδας, που  αναπτύσσεται με την ηλικία, και  είναι η κύρια αιτία απώλεια
 όρασης.  Η γιατρός επισήμανε την  σημαντικότητα   παρακολούθησης και  συμβούλεψε τους ακροατές να  προσέχουν τα μάτια τους "ως κόρη
 οφθαλμού".
 
 Η Dr. Schmidt είναι  Οφθαλμομέτρης και Διδάκτωρ στην  Ιατρική Σχολή Άϊκαν του   Νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai.
 Είναι συμβεβλημένη  με τα νοσοκομεία Mount Sinai Queens, Mount  Sinai Hospital, και New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of
 Mount Sinai. 
 
 On Tuesday, April 9, Dr. Elena Schmidt  was the highly distinguished guest on the Mount Sinai
 Medical Show hosted by Fay Kozas.  Dr. Schmidt spoke about eye diseases,
 initially about diabetic retinopathy, caused by diabetes, a  factor that can be controlled. 
 The doctor also referred to macular  degeneration, a condition that sets in with age, and which
 is the leading cause of blindness.  In closing, the doctor emphasized the importance of vigilance
 and eye care.  
Dr. Schmidt is an Optometrist and  Instructor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
 The doctor is affiliated with Mount  Sinai Queens, Mount Sinai Hospital, and New York Eye and Ear
 Infirmary of Mount Sinai.
